Landslide causes traffic jam near Padil

Mangalore : A landslide caused due to heavy rains that have been hitting the district hard for the past few days, caused a traffic jam on Saturday, July 31.

The traffic jam caused massive inconvenience to vehicles and pedestrians alike. The spot at which the landslide occurred was quite near to the Padil Railway Station as well.

The road, which has the reputation of being a National Highway, was reduced to a dirt track with a bed of damp soil that quite a few vehicles found hard to jostle by.

Pedestrians too had their own share of problems and were seen walking along safer alternatives by the side of the Highway.

With a JCB pressed into action to clear the road, vehicles remained stranded in long queues for about a couple of hours. A route diversion at Pumpwell eased the traffic jam chaos to some extent. Some vehicles took the Thokkottu-Mudipu route as well.
