Acharya meets 'police atrocity victim' in hospital

Mangalore ,  Friday, July 30, 2010 :  Home Minister VS Acharya paid a visit to A J Hospital in the city on Thursday to enquire about the health condition of Shivaram Shetty, who has been brutally beaten up the Bantwal police using rod three days ago.

Speaking to the media Mr Acharya said he had obtained details from the family about the incident and the government would take care of the expenses of his treatment. He also added Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao SP has taken strict action against the wrongdoers and he would also take up the issue with IGP.
 

Mr Shetty was taken to custody in relation to the suspicious death case of farm house servant of Nagaraj Shetty , the Coastal Development Authority chairman. Three police personnel from Bantwal station have been suspended over the alleged torturing.

Two years ago, Shivaram Shetty was detained following the suspicious death of the servant and was later released. Shivaram was in critical condition when he was brought to A J Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
